Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is the use of plant remedies in the treatment of disease. Medical herbalists are trained in the same diagnostic skills as orthodox doctors but take a more holistic approach to illness, trying to treat the underlying cause rather than the symptoms. Herbalists use the remedies to restore the balance of the body, enabling it to utilise its own healing powers. Treatment includes advice on diet and lifestyle as well as the herbal medicine.
