Nutritional Counselling

Nutritional Counselling is an on-going process in which a health professional, the Nutritional Counsellor, works with an individual to assess his or her dietary intake and identify areas where change is needed.  The Nutritional Counsellor provides information, educational materials, support and follow-up to help the individual make and maintain dietary changes that are needed to promote healthier eating, adopt a therapeutic diet, or avoid nutrient-drug interactions.  Nutritional Counselling is an integral part of treatment for persons with eating disorders or chemical dependencies.  Many drugs can cause weight gain or loss, so persons taking these medications also benefit from this process.
