Who We Are

Aims and Objectives of the Group:

  • To provide a Scottish Borders forum for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practitioners and health professionals to work together with the aim of providing holistic healthcare for all.
  • To provide information on how members of the public can access complementary therapies in the Borders.
  • To provide a useful and effective healthcare resource for NHS staff.
  • To enable therapists to network, interact and work collaboratively together.
  • To support the Government in working towards the regulation of complementary and alternative therapies.
  • To keep up to date with new developments in CAM research.

“This Directory brings together a diverse range of opportunities to support people in the Borders, to assist in making choices about their life and health that suit themselves. The range of complementary services available and detailed in the Directory stands side-by-side with the more traditional approaches of the medical model of services currently provided by the NHS. Both approaches may be valuable at certain times in our lives but I firmly believe that neither approach should be exclusive to the other. I think such services detailed in this Directory are best used together with advice and support from one’s general practitioner where necessary.

I am happy to support this new Directory and I believe that it is a useful collection, which brings together information about practitioners and therapists qualified in their own respective disciplines. Ultimately the Directory details services that people may find helpful and which complement other more traditional approaches towards improving our health.”
